As an example of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), take my new website that targets Viennese clients. This page will explain how I use SEO to improve the website's position in search engine results; this is called its “organic search ranking”. I will keep this page current.
SEO should be an integral part of Marketing in a commercial website. The owners should know who they want to visit the site. SEO can select the desired visitors by the terms that they search for.
A search term is called a 'keyword' in SEO, even when it includes multiple words. Keywords are critical to SEO. If they're inaccurate or too general (like 'Website'), they will bring unwanted visitors. If they don't anticipate what your desired visitors will use, they won't visit. I want visitors who are based in Vienna and have commercial websites of their own. The keywords that I select are: "homepage wien" , "webdesign wien" , "übersetzung wien" , "übersetzer wien" , "suchmaschinenoptimierung wien".
Now, how can I tell the search engines that these keywords are relevant to my website? They don't take direct submissions; they use actual data from the Web, including the text from website pages. I must write those keywords into my site, and wait for the search engines to notice.
